Verseres & Co. is a family-run press in Sacramento, California, making a short list of things for the desk you actually sit at — journals, pens, ink, and the small fixtures that hold it all together.

We started in 2024 with one bench, one bookbinder, and a long list of objects we wished we could buy. Most of what we make is bound by hand: leather sourced from a Tuscan tannery, undyed paper from a small Italian mill, brass turned at a shop in Pennsylvania, walnut milled from Northern California stock. Nothing is cast in volume; everything is checked by a person before it ships.

How we work

Our list is intentionally narrow. Twelve products, restocked seasonally. We'd rather make one journal that lays flat to the gutter than ten that don't. Pricing reflects what the work costs us — there's no margin for marketing because we don't do any. People find us through other people.

Every order leaves our Sacramento studio in unbleached muslin and a kraft sleeve. US orders over $50 ship free. International on request — write us at hello@verseres.com.

What we believe in

Quiet design. Materials that age well. Tools that survive their first decade and look better for it. A press that prints small runs of careful things, instead of a brand that prints whatever the season demands.
